That wasn’t part of the plan. Original plan was sis to join cousin & his family for Disneyland while we going to ocean park. Well, due to some miscommunication, we decided all to join. That’s the advantage of free & easy, can always change plan, haha. Couldn’t find the breakfast photo, hmm, cant remember what we had. Anyway, we reached Disneyland around 10am. Purchased the additional tickets, then wait for cousin family. As expected they are late, haha. By the way, the ticket is cheaper if brought from Agency than at the counter. So we start our Disney journey… we have to choose some of the least exciting rides to suit everyone. The queue is quite long for some of the ride. Thank god, the weather is sunny yet not too hot. Much better than my first trip to Disney, was on Summer, the weather is crazy, sweating all the way. Had late lunch as avoiding the lunch crowd. Not the best food in town obviously and quite costly, their portion is big, in my view. Next is the parade, that’s the fun part of the event. You see lots of the Disney character appearing. Everyone stand along the pathway to see the parade. Feel likes a kid again.. hahaha.. We tried one of the ride, wow, can only admit that we are too old in heart.. so scary.. hahaha.. Didn’t wait for the fireworks, as the fireworks only start around 8.30pm. short shopping at the souvenirs shop before we ended the day in Disneyland. After a long day in Disneyland, we decided head back to Hostel for rest after dinner.
After had our late lunch at Sha Tin, we set off to Central. It took us quite sometime to locate this Starbucks coffee house, the special thing about this outlet is they have this old school HK coffee house design.
We can even order pineapple bun here, which normally not available in other Starbucks. Yummy!
Next stop is The Peak. Even though we have bought the combo ticket earlier on, still got to queue. And the queue is super duper long, we waited 1 hour plus before can board the tram. It’s my third time to The Peak, forever crowded!
We had fun at the Madam Tussaud’s museum first. They added more wax figurine, which also include the new movie character. Popular idol like Lee Min Ho having queue again…haha. Most of the picture wasn’t nicely taken, I shall not include here.
Next, we head to top floor for the night view. Still spectacular view as ever but super strong wind.
Even though the view is nice, we couldn’t stand standing outdoor for too long cuz it’s too cold.
After getting down from the nice nice Hong Kong night view, we went for soupy dinner at Cui Hua restaurant. It’s nice to have some warm, soupy meal as dinner.
Again, we have to queue for tram to get down to Central. This time round we decided to take the cab directly back to Jordan. Hmmm.. but it’s very expensive lo. Cuz we got to pay for the toll and return trip from HK island to Jiu long island.
Had our late shopping around Jordan…
Different branches of Cui Hua.
I think this can only be found in HK. Warm sugar cane juice, perfectly nice for the weather.
Wake up early in the morning, heading to Australian Dairy Company.
Wow, so long queue! We waited about half an hour for seat.
Their waiters are not that friendly and helpful as usual, there was one lady trying to ask what is their signature food, the waiter just brushed her off speaking in Cantonese, “I’m busy, don’t come and bother me”.
Manage to order the breakfast set and their dessert.
Breakfast set include Macaroni, Scrambled egg, toast and milk tea. I’m must say that their scrambled egg is the best, smooth, creamy and tastiest scrambled egg. Yummy! Milk tea still not my cup of tea. haha… We also ordered the dessert, the lotus nut and the almond steamed egg. The almond steamed egg surprise me, I dont usually like almond, but this taste is just right.
After the breakfast, we took a cab to Wong Tai Sin temple. Alternatively, taking MTR can reached Wong Tai Sin temple too. It’s a very popular temple in Hong Kong. A lot of visitors as usual.
Next, we took MTR to ShaTin station. The Snoopy World is closed due to bad weather. It wasn’t rain, windy, etc, so what’s the bad weather about? So we just had our lunch there before heading to next destination.
Planned this family trip for 5 days 4 nights.
It was an unexpected colder weather. Meet up with my sis at airport, then head to our hotel. This round chosen a hostel near Jordan MTR. The MTR exit is just door step away from the hostel building. Anyway, cant expect too much on this small little hostel. It’s really small in size but convenient and affordable.
Decided to try the Wanton noodles near our hostel. There’s quite a few eatery at Jordan. The wanton noodles was ok but not to my families’ liking and the price is not cheap though. After the meal, we set off to Tsim Sha Tsui.
Firstly, was the Avenue of Star. Quite relaxing place, but the wind is so strong. Freezing cool. After the Symphony of Lights show, we went to Harbour City for dinner and shopping.
Suppose is a 2 days trip, however things doesn’t always happen as per planned.
8 of us departing from Sg to Medan, initial plan is to attend meeting in Medan then depart to Kuala Tanjung to over night there. Next day, meeting at Kuala Tanjung and taking evening flight back to Sg.
We touched down Medan new airport around 7.40am, about 1 hour journey from airport to our office. Shall skip the details on the work, around 4 plus, me and colleagues with the other 2 colleagues from another department taking the car drive to Kuala Tanjung. It’s about 3 hours drive and the road is quite bumpy. Pop the anti motion sickness, then sleep all the way till reach the guest house.
Ayam penyet lunch, Yummy!.
The guest house is quite simple, not that bad than our expectation. They prepared dinner for us, but all the food is spicy. Sharing the room with my colleagues cuz they only prepare 3 rooms for 4 of us. And our room’s heater is not working, had a super quick cold bath before resting for the night.
Next day, after work, we head back to guest room to pack our luggage around 3pm. Just when we are about to set off, my colleagues received sms from Silk Air, indicating our flight is cancelled. I quickly check my phone, same sms is received. Oh my god, how does this happen? No explaination on the details, just indicate we got to rebook for next flight. We decide to go back to office to check online and also called back to Sg office and Silk Air. The flight cancelled is actually due to volcano eruption.
Thereafter we set off to Medan and staying 1 night at JW Marriott. Colleagues brought us to Sun Plaza for dinner near the hotel we stayed and we went to the hotel lounge relax before rest for the day. Next day morning, hotel helped us to pack our breakfast as we are taking morning flight. Medan traffic could be quite bad, thus we are travelling quite early.
After we check-in for departure, we also submitted our details and receipt for claims of the flight cancelled. I guess that would take sometimes for processing. Not sure whether they will reimburse all or how. I guess I’m not used to travelling in car for long hours and uneven road, doesn’t really feel well after came back. Probably I should buy the travel insurance if I were to travel again.
Last day of 2013.
Been trying to recall for things happening this year. I guess my memory wasn’t that good compare to last time, better pen it down before I forgot them again.
Jan- Went for a short trip to Bali. Have accumulated some Kris flyer miles last time when travelling for work, so decided to redeem it before the expiry date. I still got to pay for the taxes, so total spend is like paying budget airline fare for travelling in SQ Economy class. The tax cost around $130 if not mistaken. Went to Novina to see the wild dolphin, not forgetting the super nice sunset chill out at Kudeta, Seminyak, Bali. It’s not related to the MBS Kudeta anyway.
Feb – Jun
was rather busy with the Project thingy. Things get dragged, farewell for colleagues has become a monthly event. Well, sometimes farewell a few of them in one dinner gathering. Got this job through my friend recommendation, but she left about 5 months after I joined. Things just get worse than we expected. Pressure and stress from internal as well as external. Some of the time,, I just try not to get involved, not to comment for anything. Day by day hearing the negative feedback from your colleagues, your bosses and the clients, it just won’t help anyway. Sometimes we all rather sitting at the client site than stay in office.
Gfs trip to Bintan in May, knew them since I start working in Sg. Our gang consists of 3 gals and 1 guy, this time round the only gentleman didn’t join us. Muahaha, his gf must be wondering why these 3 gals always ask him out for drinking session. The resort we stayed is not that nice, but quite relaxing though.
Jul – Why i remember this? Cuz I lost my iphone 5, cry.. Partly due to my carelessness, 2 month old iphone kena stolen. Good thing is I did not sold off my phone 4 yet, so i could use back the old phone. But with the new ios 7, just get laggy day by day.
My birthday month, when you get older, you will try to convince yourself, age is just a number. Or probably just me? Ended my job with the company, sort of expected, but quite sad though. Didn’t share much details with a lots, only the few of you knew about it. Thanks for all the encouragement and accompaniment throughout this period.
Sep – Went for Basic Theory Test, passed and converted my license. But still have no car to drive here.
Oct – Saddest month of the year, I hope he rest in peace in another world. We will missed him lots.
Nov – Finally starting a new job, with new colleagues, new environment, i hope i would be able to stay on longer if things can work out here, haha. Had a short trip to Phuket to really rest and relax before the start of my new job.
Dec – Festive season, but no holidays for me. So just work and a lot of learning.
A year with a lot of ups and down for me. For the coming year, I just hope the people I loved will stay healthy, pretty and happy always. And those newly knew friends, I hope the friendship will stay. Thank you for being part of my life, staying with me and encourage me, teaching me things and correct me when I make mistake, spending time with me and buy me meals when I was broke, LoL. I’m not good at words, may not be able to express myself well sometimes, so do forgive me also. Will try to improve myself for the new year, Gambateh!
Bintan with my 2 dearest good friends in Sg, knew them since 2007, but we had never travel together. So, somehow initiated this short trip.
Booked the trip through Groupon for Aston Tanjung Pinang.
Had our breakfast at Killiney Kopitiam before setting off to Tanjung Pinang. The Indon Falcon ferry really cannot make it, the air-con is not cold at all, the seating is old, cramped and not comfortable. Will avoid this ferry next time.
About 2 hour Journey from Tanah Merah ferry terminal to Tanjung Pinang, the custom under renovation, should be nicer when it is completed. The tour guide from the agency arrange for us the transportation. Waiting and waiting, they trying to group the people, so no need to arrange so many cars/vans. They customized different kind of packages, some just accommodation, some include accommodation and city tour.
After much waiting together with another pair of couple, they send us to the massage centre, we opt for the 45 mins foot massage. The massage so-so only, nothing much to mention. Well, after that we are waiting again, for the other couple before going for next destination.
Then only we set off to the lunch place, super hungry, yet the driver purposely make a wrong turn for few times before bringing us to the actual location. Damn, he has passed over the same building for 3 times. Finally, reached the makan place, place our order, our package include 1 hour massage and local lunch. So our local lunch is the ayam penyet with a drink. Almost fainted when we saw the meal being served, the piece of chicken is such a tiny one! Damn pathetic, but we are too hungry to complain, just quickly finish it. The souvenir shop just next door, so another round of waiting before we settle in our hotel. J was trying to buy the chilli paste from the restaurant but it’s out of stock already.
Room was ok, but Wifi reception not good in the room. The hotel has a nice swimming pool, gym. Breakfast is included. We were still hungry, so we went to the restaurant for some food. Order some snack and drinks, lol, then only know that the restaurant is halal, they dont serve alcohol. hahaha.. but they have this mini mart selling beer, etc.
There’s really nothing much around the hotel, or maybe we did not explore far enough? But we do find a few food stall just across the road, selling snack and noodles.
Night time we decided to take their bbq buffet beside the pool.. the setting is romantic type but i think we are the only who have make the reservation. As if we book the whole place… the food is simple nothing fantastic. Again, my dear alcoholic friend started ordering beer and wine. Is nice just to relax and chit chatting awhile.. Our only male mr chan was not with us for this trip. His gf must be thinking why these 3 ladies always drag him along for drinking session.
I guess we just too tired after wake up super damn early, we end up sleep very early instead. Next day, the breakfast provided by the hotel wasn’t that fantastic. We told to have the massage before leaving Bintan. Make the reservation the day before, however when we went over they ask us to come back one hour later. Yet, when we went back an hour later, they still don’t bother to entertain us at all, no apologies, no explanation and demand us to wait again. This is really ridiculous. Will definitely not return to this shop again.
Thereafter we just slack in the hotel till the pick up arrived to fetch us to the ferry terminal. Short trip but it’s nice to have a trip with galfriends.
