Yay! Finally out from confinement & baby Ainsley reaching one month old!
The whole month is really not easy one, suppose to rest more and yet have to learn to take care of baby. I’m sure couldn’t do this myself without the help from WH & mil.
After discharge from hospital, my daily routine is as follow: Eat, latch, sleep and repeat again. We still trying to get use to each other, baby ainsley is very nice baby for the first two weeks, she could have her milk then fall asleep. Even if she woke up, asking for milk, she would just make noise, not so much of shouting or crying. Or probably we check on her regularly thus can attend to her needs before she start making noise?
She’s on direct latch, so I don’t actually know how much she taking. Probably around 2oz? WH once makes formula powder for her, Cuz she seems like very hungry. She slept almost 4 hours that makes me worry! Wake her up after the 4 hours, haha. Constantly need to change diaper for her, she can poo 4,5 times a day, sometimes even more.
Mil prepare my meals daily, starts off with breakfast mee sua, lunch & dinner will be 1 soup, 1 meat or fish n veggie. Snack sometimes is red bean soup or sweet potato soup & Apple. Daily drinks is black dates + red dates + beiqi + dangshen + longan. Sil says black dates boost milk supply! I snack in milo with crackers in between too.
I did bath and wash my hair after no longer tahan my super itchy hair. WH says those lose hair after give birth surely becuz never wash hair during confinement, all the hair pores stuck already. As for bath, it just moment of siokness ! I get sweat very easily and it such a pain to take bath with my physically tired n wound waiting recover body. We bought the bath pack to boil with water, sometimes we just boil water with ginger. No matter how I bath, I can’t get rid of the stickiness and oiliness. Lucky my baby still likes me, hahaha.
Our 乖乖baby ainsley turn into not so guai starting week 3. Check on Internet is growth spurt period. She seems hungrier and very cranky. The worst part is she don’t want to sleep. We try cuddle her to sleep then put her on cot. She cry immediately her body touch the cot as if something scare her. Even she could finally fall asleep inside the cot, within 5 minutes she would jerk and start crying again. She looks so tire yet couldn’t sleep well. She could only sleep soundly in our arms. We took turn to hug her to sleep, but couldn’t stand it for too long as well, cuz body have to keep stiff and gone numb. Especially night time, have to cuddle her till she in deep sleep before transfer on bed. We try various way, let her sleep with us, swadle, etc.. but it just doesn’t work for her. Give her pacifier also no help, she dont know how to suck, always spit out instead. WH brought her out to try to calm her down and sleep. She closes her eyes and pretent to sleep when she was outside, but once she reach our house, her eyes open big big already. At last we decided to try to let her sleep on tummy. Try on day time, she manage to sleep on her tummy and able to turn her head, can sleep for 1 hour or more. Knowing the risk, we have observe her and make sure nothing block her breathing before we continue to let her sleep on tummy even on night time. She seems prefer one side over the other. She can rests, means we can rest too 🙂
We had the 1st month checkup at polyclinic, make the appointment and we did not wait for long. The checkup and compulsory immunisation is free of charge. Nurse first took her weight & height record and confirm the jab for the day. Next, go to another room, another Nurse will take her head circumference, check her condition and advise things like cleaning up her mouth after milk, etc. And finally do the injection for her. This round is Hep B on her thigh. She did cry for awhile but was stopped after we hug hug her. Next we wait for doctor checkup, after that proceed to payment counter to make payment/next appointment.
15 Jan marks the first month old of Baby Ainsley and also the end of my confinement. Hurray, I could finally do things I couldn’t do during the confinement month, can take bath & wash hair everyday without boiling herbs, haha. Baby still fully breastfeed, drink every 2-3 hours. I’m glad that I’m able to provide her breast milk sufficiently with extra stocks. Nevertheless, it’s not a smooth journey, we went through some ups and down, and of cause the cooperation of baby is very important too. We manage to work this out together and we shall continue doing that.
Initially I wanted to hold a small full month party for BB, but no ones seems interested or wanna help to organize it plus I’m still in confinement. Thus, only order a cake for a small celebration. Our biggest wish is to see her grow healthily and happily. She brings so much joy and happiness to our family!
