As for pumping.. i try scheduling 3 times a day.. once at midnight at home, twice in the office.
My routine as follow:-
midnight : latch one side, pump one side
11am~12 noon: pump both side
3~4pm: pump both side
7pm onwards, latch all the way
My pump bag
1. Pump parts in tupperware
2. 4 bottles + ice pack + cooler bag.
3. Pump motor and power adapter.
4. hand free bra
6. hand sanitizer
7. battery (in case no direct power supply)
8. ziplock bag – to store ice pack in fridge.
For pump parts, I normally store it in container. Sometimes I use ziplock bag, but I find it using tupperware is much better. First the size is fixed and I can use it to rinse my pump parts. I do prepare ziplock bag in case or when the place I go do not have fridge, I can put the parts in ziplock bag and chilled them in my cooler bag.
Ziplock bag to store ice pack, actually to distinguish my ice pack with others, since some of us using the same one in fridge.
Plastic bag to fill my milk bottle, again is to differentiate with others, since they are people using the same brand as mine. I don’t like the idea to put the whole cooler bag inside the fridge. But I see some people do so, it taking up the space, plus the office fridge is really not that big. Some even put empty container or empty cooler bag inside the fridge, not so considerate, right?
My pumping life has it ups n down too.. some day the supply will be low, some day its slight more. Especially if i were in a rush or stress.. the supply n pumping session will be reduced and not smooth. Worse when i was in client place
and best i dont trust my memory nowadays..
one day only bring one side of the pump parts. another i didnt bring the pump motor. some day my battery is flat.. i resort to marmet when i thought i did not bring the manual pump. Wonder what happen to my memory.
manual pump — my hand very pain and can pressing for long.
marmet — not only my hand pain, breast also pain.. and processing too slow.. spend more time with lesser milk.. plus.. it will shoot everywhere.. messy and waste milk haiz…
so i still prefer my double pump and i have free hand to do other stuff
supply is rather stagnant, didnt increase much, but sometimes drop! I think i just get too stress sometimes, and it does make a difference to result..
bought milkmaid tea, but seems like not much effect on me, so far only can confirm papaya is my milk booster.. i have my overnight oat & milo almost everyday, hoping to maintain the supply. Other food cant really identify as booster yet.
i joined breastfeeding forum too, at the early stage, i just googled. Then sometime i just read post from forum. Those experience shared indeed help me on my journey of breastfeeding. Those member are very helpful and willing to share. From the correct of latching, reviews on breast pump, storage bag, to how to store and organize the frozen breast milk. No doubt there is a lot information, I find myself too addicted to it. You can see a lot of mum struggle with low supply. Yet some of them have abundant of supplies that they could donate out to other babies. I must say i respect the expressed milk group mummies, everyday pump 6-8 times a day. I cant imagine that if i got to do so. It’s time consuming and tiring. N it disrupt your life. But I do understand being a mum, you always wanna give the best to your babies. I’m just pumping three times a day already find it quite tough. Midnight, since i be feeding baby as well. Two times a work is quite a struggle, cuz will disrupt my work. n after working hour, I just wanna rush home to feed my baby.I feel bad sometimes. But if I’m gonna sacrifice not to do so at work, I find it unfair to my baby. She deserved my milk, if she still wants it. And I can see she really benefit from that.
