We spend a lot planning on this Japan trip. I started blogging the trip about one year ago, but only manage to complete it after one year.
To plan a family trip is never easy, as we need to cater the needs for both old and young. We can no longer plan a trip like the way we used to be. Saved on accommodation, travel light, having street food, visit many places in a day, etc. This trip we did not arrange for any of the famous queue food. I don’t want my hungry baby shouting, making a scene there. Tokyo is really a family friendly places that I highly recommended.
Hotel – we stay total 5 hotels during this trip. Cuz we are travelling from one place to another.
Hotel Wings International Yotsuya – super good location, very near to Metro Yotsuya, convenience store and eateries nearby. We booked the triple room. Room consider spacious. There is laundromat at basement. Free coffee/tea near lobby, we had it everyday before go out, before get back to our room. Hotel staff is helpful too, help us to arrange the luggage service.
Hotel Gora Onsen Aoiso – near to Hakone Tozan Cable Car Koen Shimo Station but you can walk from Gora Station as well. That’s no bathroom in the room, so we have to take bath in Onsen itself. The hotel is rather small and quiet. The staffs are friendly, we booked dinner and breakfast as well. There is private onsen that you can book for your own use.
Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Hotel New Century – hotel provide free shuttle service to/from Kawaguchiko station. Must book the Mt Fuji view room. Breakfast and dinner nice too. There’s 2 onsen which get swapped during day and evening time, do check out the notice board.
Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay – book as we can’t get the dates with Sheraton. Room size decent, pretty standard hotel. There is no coffee but only green tea. We didn’t try their restaurant.
Hotel Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay – nicer compare with Okura, booked with hotel breakfast. The buffet breakfast nice. We didn’t have time to try out their amenities. Seems to be pretty nice as they have indoor swimming pool.
1. Weather forecast check before step out. Their weather forecast is pretty accurate. Throughout the trip only one day is raining, and it rain the whole day!
2. Bring cash/credit card. There’s limited money changer around.
3. Maximize your spending by consolidating your purchase, look out for tax free sign and tax rebate min. spend. Their tax was 8%, as per news it will be adjusted to 10% starting Oct 2019.
4. Buy Pasmo/Suica, convenience and fuss free. Metro pass will be cheaper but depends on number of places you are visiting.
5. Avoid peak hour, especially on JR line. The crowd is crazy.. they really push their way into the train.
6. Bring water bottle, there’s always free water dispenser, even at their food court.
Last day in Tokyo, we took the afternoon flight. Thus there is no activity arrange for the day. We had the buffet breakfast, this time we choose the GRAND CAFE BREAKFAST. It was quite many people, thus we have to queue before they arrange a seat for us. The breakfast choice here is better, we take our time to enjoy the breakfast. After the breakfast, we took a stroll at the garden.
There is direct bus from the hotel to airport. We just need to make the arrangement with the hotel, fuss free. The direct bus cost slightly higher but it save the hassle to move the luggage and transfer from place to place. The bus ride was comfortable and smooth.
We reached airport pretty early, so we have time to shop. And kids get to enjoy their time in the playground too. We had our lunch too in the airport. If you do not have time to shop during your trip, you can always shop at the duty free shop in airport. Need not calculate how much for tax free and carry your souvenir from one place to another. The bugger service is even nice, she fetch us from one end to another.
Bye- bye Tokyo, it’s definitely a memorable trip for all of us.
See how much stuff we brought back. Mainly is food/snack.
We wake up early in the morning to had our hotel breakfast before heading out. The restaurant serves Japanese style breakfast.
Same as yesterday, we took the shuttle , change Disney resort line to Disneyland. Same crowded as yesterday, we just show our ticket to get into Disneyland. So many people queuing to take photo with Daisy.
The rides here is more suitable for Ainsley, especially Toontown. Kayden still too young for rides. We spend quite some time trying different activities here. We bought the pop-corn as well.
Had our lunch at one of the restaurant. The food here is so cute.
We joined the queue for the parade, it’s one of nice thing to do in Disneyland. The staff help to arrange/direct the tourist, so that everybody get to view the parade.
Disneyland is a place design especially for kids. We have no problem to find place to rest our feet and settle kids need. Their baby room is fully equipped, clean and neat! No wonder so many parents brought their young children along. We took some other rides like the cruise, it’s a small world.
We had our early dinner and waiting for the night parade. The castle is so pretty with the lights on.
Really had a great time in Disneyland. However there was no firework show tonight. =( is my third visit to Disneyland, twice at HK Disneyland previously. Hopefully i get to see if i happen to visit Disneyland next time.
Today we going to visit Disney Sea. It’s a happy place for everyone. We bought the 2 day pass, so the plan is to visit Disney Sea today and Disneyland tomorrow. The perks of staying Disney Resort official hotel include – Guaranteed Park admission for hotel Guests and Complimentary shuttle bus to the Disney Resort Line. Details can refer the official sites.
We took the shuttle bus to Disney Resort Line, then take the Disney Resort line to DisneySea stop. See the crowd, so many people even on a week day! And a lot of them wearing school uniform, seems like coming from other part of Tokyo.
There’s Disney App that we can see the crowd and waiting time for the rides. We aim some rides that suitable for all, since we have old and young. The first ride we took already scare Ainsley out, that she refused to take subsequent ride.
We took a break at the mexican restaurant. And here is the place we accidentally left our bag. After we had our meal, we walk over to another part of the Disney sea. Then i suddenly realized our bag is not with us, OMG! WH walk all the way back to the restaurant and found out our bag still on the chair. Thank god, everything is intact. Otherwise I can’t imagine what will happen as our passports inside the bag.
Some of the few rides Ainsley willing to take. The baby room in Disney Sea is fully equipped and very clean. Many parents brought their young children to Disney Sea even though not all the rides suitable for young children.
We had our early dinner before heading back to hotel for a rest.
As the weather forecast shown it will be a raining, thus we decided to go to Odaiba instead of going to disneyland. Really accurate weather forecast, it start drizzling when we depart from hotel.
Venus fort, this reminds me of Macau. The fake sky inside the mall. We spend time shopping and had our lunch.
Tea time, still drizzling. We had Bill’s souffle pancake. Yummy.
We had our dinner also before head back to hotel. Their food court provide free water, everyone will bring their tray back to the stall.
Unless the Ryokan in Hakone, the Ryoken in Kawaguchiko does not have private onsen. But there is two onsen, one at the basement and the other at the higher floor. The area is much bigger compare with Hakone one. Ryokan will swap the onsen for guy or girl use. Perhaps is low season, not many people in the onsen. So i just enjoy myself the onsen by myself. haha. And not forgetting to use the massage chair after onsen. Relax~
Sun rise is earlier, manage to view the Mt Fuji with reflection!
Enjoying the breakfast before leaving the Ryokan.
The hotel driver send us to the Kawaguchiko Station, from there we took the bus to Kachi-kachi Ropeway.
We purchase the round trip ticket to the Kachi-kachi ropeway, there’s already queue forming when we reach. And there’s group of toddler also visiting the place.
We hang around the place and bought some snacks.
After back to Kawaguchiko station, can get view of Mt. Fuji as well, but the cloud blocking already. We had our lunch at Hoto Fudo, the noodles was ok but the queue is too long. Quite a lot seating place in the restaurant. but limited staff to clear the table and serve the customer.
After lunch, we went back to Kawaguchiko station to take the bus back to Shinjuku, the bus ride also included in the pass. But need to pre-book the bus. The bus ride took about 1 hour 45 minutes.
Had early dinner at Shinjuku before we check in to our hotel. As there is lesser dining option nearby the hotel.
It is so relax at the Ryokan, after a good night sleep, we took turn to enjoy the onsen again before having our breakfast. After the breakfast, we then checkout from the hotel and walk over to the bus stop to take the bus to Gotemba Premium Outlet. There’s already queue forming when we at the bus stop, the bus was pretty smaller than normal 44 seater bus. We are lucky to able to get a seat for ourselves.
As we getting nearer to Gotemba Premium Outlet, Mt Fuji come greet us again. We spend time shopping while the kids getting to run and play at the playground. Thanks to the good weather, we manage to see Mount Fuji in a clearer view throughout the whole 3 days =)
Tourist can get the coupon book from the Tourist centre, very spacious and nice place to shop, we manage to get some clothing and shoes. So tempted to buy Le Cruset, but it’s too heavy! We had our late lunch at food court, surprisingly there is a chicken rice store here. However we didn’t try thus has no idea whether it taste the same as SG.
And it’s time to depart to Kawaguchiko as we had book our dinner time. We queue again at the bus stop, there are buses travelling to Shinjuku as well. We manage to get some rest before reaching Kawaguchiko Station. After reach, we went to the tourist centre to get the staff to call the Hotel to pick us up.
The driver came over in 10-15 minutes time, probably a 5 mins drive to the Hotel. While the driver park the car, we can see the Mount Fuji over the lake just infront of us. WH purposely booked the room with view =)
After check-in, we are directed to the dining area for our dinner. To note that, there is additional charges on the onsen that need to pay directly to the hotel.
